Frequently asked technical questions about SureTest

In a recent blog post, we answered the top 5 most frequently asked questions our team receives about our test automation solution. Part two of this series will explore the most commonly asked technical questions we receive.

  1. What test automation tool is the foundation of SureTest’s solution?

  2. SureTest’s Test Automation Solution is technology agnostic and can be used with any test automation platform. But SureTest recommends using Eggplant by Keysight Technologies due to its unique test automation features. Eggplant allows SureTest to make the test automation process easier and faster with a user-based perspective that helps improve how you test. Its enterprise capabilities allow SureTest to support a wide spectrum of platforms and systems beyond an EHR.

With Eggplant as the core platform, SureTest runs its unmatched library of test scripts, which allows SureTest’s customers to operate more efficiently and get the most out of the Eggplant platform. As a leading certified Eggplant partner, SureTest works closely with their team to orchestrate a true end-to-end solution and can secure better pricing on Eggplant for your company.

  3. Can SureTest automate testing on any system?

  4. If you interact with software using a mouse and keyboard, SureTest can automate testing for it. With SureTest, the world (of software) is your oyster, and there is a vast array of opportunities to leverage the power of SureTest’s Test Automation Solution.

SureTest automates testing for EHR and integrated systems testing such as lab, imaging, and more. Plus, SureTest supports HR, ERP/supply chain, and CRM systems like INFOR, Workday, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce.

  5. How will SureTest access our systems? Does it interact with patient health information?

  6. SureTest carries out all testing activities in a test environment that does not contain PHI (patient health information). We use a dedicated test-user account to authenticate to applications under test. In this manner, the automation is limited to performing only the activity in the test environment for which that test user is authorized, and that activity can also be audited.

  7. What infrastructure requirements does SureTest have?

  8. For a medium-sized health system deploying our typical test automation program, SureTest has minimal infrastructure requirements. SureTest requires one small to medium server and three workstations.

The server and workstations can be virtual machines and scaled as necessary as you expand upon SureTest’s Test Automation Solution. The server is where the scripts are deployed, scheduled, and executed. The individual test activities that occur during script deployment run on the workstations.

  9. What application lifecycle or test management tools can SureTest integrate with?

  10. The current automation tool that SureTest utilizes supports direct integration with IBM RQM, HP ALM, Jira, and Jenkins. While direct integration may not be available for other similar applications (i.e., ServiceNow and BMC Remedy), SureTest can automate interactions within those applications, such as logging support tickets, reporting errors, etc.
