Test Automation Developer

Job Summary

The test automation developer’s role is to assist in the testing, maintenance, and development of automated testing scripts in support of the achievement of business requirements to enhance the quality, breadth, frequency, and volume of testing in the client environment. This includes utilizing an automated testing framework to maintain automated test scripts, analyze software workflow, and implement test scripts for applications identified by our clients.

Essential Job Functions

Strategy & Planning

  • Assist Test Automation Engineer and/or Senior Test Automation Engineer to analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of test requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments
  • Assist in executing automated testing software development project plans

Operational Management

  • Under direction of Test Automation Engineer and/or Sr. Test Automation Engineer, liaise with network administrators and application analysts to assist in resolving problems identified during testing of software products or company software systems
  • Provide progress reports and recommend standard operating procedures
  • Under direction of Test Automation Engineer and/or Senior Test Automation Engineer, adjust test automation scripts to test functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary
  • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the testing process

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required Education

Associate Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science required. College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering preferred, and/or 2 years equivalent work experience

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with Eggplant or similar test automation framework
  • Prior experience working with healthcare systems

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency in scripting programming languages (JAVA)
  • Understanding of coding methods and best practices
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
